Research question – violence begets violence?

Does heavy media attention to shootings (esp. at schools), legitimize or possibly encourage gun violence in schools as an option for those looking to solve problems?

This may seem crazy for most people, but for the few who may be at the level or capacity to actually enact such violence, that it is a thing–an increasingly concerning (at least media wise) social fact–would-be offenders are enabled?

Moreover, does consideration and discussion on better equipping schools to respond to violence further this legitimization? In a sense, many anti-gun proponents might advocate that the presence of a weapon in a house increases likelihood the weapon will be used…might their be a broader social factor of legitimization and enabling at play?
